Personal management - Eat the Frog
To be effective it requires a balance of important relationships, roles and activities. So where does the frog come in? Well I'm glad you asked. Mark Twain once said that if the first thing you did each morning was to eat a live frog, you would go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst that is going to happen to you all day long. Now putting it into perspective to today's world that frog is your biggest, most important task/project, the one you are most likely to drag your feet on. It is most often the one task/project that can have the greatest positive impact on your relationship/role and results at the moment.
So let me give you the first rule of frog eating: If you have to eat two frogs, eat the biggest ugliest one first!
To determine which one to eat focus on the truly important one saying no to the unimportant and then launch directly into it and discipline yourself to work steadily and single-mindedly until it is complete.
Welcome
Inspired Leadership is a blog to provide a collection of my thoughts on leadership. I have helped numerous executives including general managers, department heads and supervisors over the years with various HR and operational matters and I find myself being driven to help those in and outside of the companies I have worked for.
I often find parallels in the things we do in life so you will find a collection of things that drive me forward in my personal and business life towards continual success. I also found great success utilizing concepts found in the Secret, the 8th Habit from Effectiveness to Greatness and Eat that Frog so you will see that a large part of what you will read will have a good deal of its base from those concepts.
